All Officiating Courses are run by England Netball (EN) with support from the Region and Counties for mentoring and assessment.
The courses for all levels get released on a regular basis.

A AWARD OFFICIATING COURSE
The INTO officiating course is the first step on the officiating pathway. It will help you to understand the fundamental rules of the game, keep an accurate scorecard, cover the basic positioning and movement required to enable you to ‘whistle well’ whilst umpiring at a grassroots level or in a school environment.
MINIMUM AGE:
13 years (on the date of the course)
DURATION:
Online 4 hours (2 x 2 hours)
COST:
£40 for virtual sessions
£35 payable to county for practical assessment
Learners will be required to attend the course and then undertake a practical assessment.

The C Award course is the next step on the umpire pathway for those holders of the Into Officiating Award. It’s perfect for anyone aspiring to umpire at a higher level within your County. The course develops your knowledge of the rules by identifying/observing and penalising infringements. It also starts to build an awareness of contact v contest, when to play advantage and understanding the importance of Game Management for control and discipline. You will learn to demonstrate how positioning, movement and vision impacts on an umpire’s performance.

3 hours (online 2 x 1.5 hours)
COST:
£50 for virtual sessions
£10 resits for written assessment
£70 payable to county for practical assessment
Learners will be required to attend the course and then undertake a written assessment followed by a practical assessment. You can contact your local County Officiating Lead with the links above.
The B Award course is designed for those umpires who wish to take the next step on the umpire pathway and officiate matches at a regional level. This blended course develops your understanding of the importance of good vision, positioning and timing and builds on your current knowledge to apply the rules in a more demanding game environment. You will learn to apply advantage where appropriate and demonstrate the difference between contact that does or does not interfere with play. The course will cover how to utilise effective Game Management techniques and understand the Match Guidelines
MINIMUM AGE:
14 years (on the date of the course)

DURATION:
3 hours online (2 x 1.5 hours) followed by a 2 hour tutor led practical session
COST:
£70 for virtual sessions
£50 written assessment
£80 payable to county for practical assessment
Along with attending the course, learners will be required to undertake a written assessment. (Additional course is provided by Europe Netball to support the written assessment)

MINIMUM AGE:
14 - must be 16 years of age before taking the Practical Assessment for the Europe Netball B Award or 18 years of age before taking the Practical Assessment for the Europe Netball A Award.
